The Countdown to the UN Climate Change Conference is heating up!

As we approach the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow in November, the OneOcean Flotilla needs to raise its collective voice to get the delegates to #ListenToTheocean. This is our chance to move ocean climate conservation up the political agenda and raise public awareness that we cannot solve the climate crisis without ocean action.

COP26, Glasgow – 31 October – 12 November 2021

We are committed to working with OneOcean Flotilla Members and joining forces with partners to:

  • Increase recognition of the role of the ocean in carbon storage and sequestration by provoking a conversation around COP on the role of ocean conservation in climate solutions
  • Increase the number of Decision Makers advocating ocean action in tackling climate change

The ocean and climate work together as part of the Earth System of our planet. The inextricable link between the two means that the ocean has borne the brunt of the climate crisis, acting as a buffer against the worst impacts of the changes. It has absorbed most of the excess heat and much of the excess carbon dioxide generated by human activity,  but at a cost that is detrimental to its health and our survival.

Stay tuned for updates on how to take action as a OneOcean Flotilla Member and get in touch to let us know what your COP26 plans are!

Join us in giving the ocean the space it deserves at CoP26 and beyond!
