As the political landscape shifts, ocean and climate communicators are navigating an increasingly challenging media environment. The rise of misinformation, reduced media coverage, and digital disruptions are making it harder to ensure that ocean and climate issues remain visible and impactful. Now, more than ever, strategic, data-driven approaches are essential to adapting to these changes.
On Monday, 3rd March, Communications INC, which hosts the OneOcean Flotilla, led a webinar exploring the key risks and opportunities for ocean and climate communications in 2025. Mirella von Lindenfels, Communications INC Director and co-founder, and Domino Albert, Communications INC Delivery Director, highlighted:
- The growing barriers to environmental information and media visibility
- The risks of misinformation and digital disruptions
- Opportunities to strengthen collaboration and refine communication strategies
Following the presentation, a Chatham House Rule discussion allowed Flotilla members to share insights and explore ways to adapt and align communications efforts in response to these challenges.
